Many individuals love bringing his or her furry friend along for the adventure. Dogs are welcomed on the trails, but please remember some simple guidelines:
- Ensure they are in good enough shape to meet the physical demands of the hike. Older dogs may not have the endurance they used to, puppies may not be ready for the long trek. Be mindful of their limits and make sure to choose a trail that’s appropriate for your pet.
- Be prepared with extra water as dogs are often prone to overheating
- Please pick up after your pet and dispose of waste as you leave the trails
- Keep your dog away from wildlife
- A busy trail can be overwhelming for a young or untrained dog. You’re bound to pass other hikers on the trail, maybe even other dogs, so please make sure your pet is used to seeing other people and dogs while out and about.
- We recommend leashes to ensure no unintended introductions to other hikers or pets occur along the way
- Be mindful of private property. Parts of Crescent Trail paths are on privately-owned parcels and neighborhoods so be aware of your surroundings, respect homeowners, and make sure you stay on the designated path.
